Are Daily Deal Sites Really A Good Deal? Pt. 2

So, in Part 1 we already discussed IF deal sites are really all they claim to be.  Now I would like to talk about those times when the deals are too good to pass up.  Obviously if you go to Jason’s Deli once a week and say Groupon has deal where you pay just $10 for a $20 certificate to Jason’s Deli then you will want to get in on that. If you love to buy your child, say, Crocs shoes, then watch for deals to shoe websites that have Crocs for sale.

The best way to keep up with the deals that are out there is to sign up for the deal sites daily emails (I have a list of them here) The sites will email you with the details every time there is a sale. It is hard to remember to check a site every day so I think emails are best. Either that or you can sign up for emails from a site that tells you what the best deals are every day (like Mommy Kudos!).

Sometimes it is fun to get a deal for an activity you have always wanted to try or a new restaurant.  Deals allow you to be adventurous without paying full price.  I like to look for deals for date ideas when my husband and I are planning to go out on a date.  You can find everything from food, to concerts, to flowers and chocolates for a deal.

I also keep my eyes out for deals that I can use towards birthday and Christmas gifts.  There have been quite a few times when I have checked gifts off my list by getting a gift certificate to an online toy store for half off, or purchased something nice, for a fraction of the normal price, for a hostess gift when we go stay in someones home.

When you purchase a deal be sure to make use of the email, Facebook and twitter links to share it with your friends and family.  Often times you will either get credit or get your deal free if enough of your friends buy it too.  If you see a deal that you think will be a hit but don’t plan to get it yourself so ahead and use the links to share it with your friends.  If they may not have known about it unless you shared and if it is something they can use then they will be glad you shared it!

So what are the best deal sites?  There are so many now that it is hard to keep track of them all.  I have a pretty thorough list here but my favorites, in no particular order, are:

For Just About Anything

Groupon– they have deals in most major cities and many online deals too.
Living Social– very similar to Groupon
Mamapedia– daily deals especially for busy moms and their families. Mamapedia usually has several deals going at once.
 Eversave– deals from 50%-90% off

For Home Goods

One Kings Lane– Designer home goods at amazing prices. I love this one!! They have great inspiring ideas for home decor!
Joss & Main– Home decor, furniture and more.
The Foundry– a great site that features sales of up to 70% off for home items.

There are lots more but the sites listed above are the ones I find myself wanting to check daily.  If you ever find great deals, and want to share them, come tell me about them!  I love to hear about deals!

Totsy also has Sprig eco friendly toys, Klean Kanteen bottles and more!

The Learning Tower {and a Giveaway Worth $199!!}

I am just going to start off this review by saying I am pretty sure you want one!  I know I wanted one and now that I have one I don’t know how I EVER got along without it!

The Learning Tower entered our lives just a couple weeks ago.  I couldn’t wait to get it put together and start using it.  It is a good thing it only took me about 20 minutes to assemble because I had 4 of my children practically crawling over me in anticipation of using it.

We have had SO much fun over the past week snacking together, making food and just hanging out at the same level because of The Learning Tower. My 2 year old is thrilled with her new found freedom once she climbs up and happily stands on The Learning Tower while the rest of us are making breakfast or dinner.  My 5 year old and 7 year old have had fun raising and lowering the height of it so that they can join in the fun too.

Just in case you have never heard of the Learning Tower I will fill you in on all of it’s benefits.  I will warn you though, like I said before, you will want one once you know all that it does!  The Learning Tower is, well… a tower. It sits up next to your counter tops and allows little ones to stand safely near you while you work.

Have you ever had a child pull up a chair to “help” you make cookies?  I don’t think I have ever made it through a chair-at-the-counters experience without someone falling off and bruising some part of their anatomy.  With The Learning Tower those days are over.  You can adjust the floor of the tower to different heights as your child grows (or if you are like me and you have a few different ages of kids). Children 18 months and up can use The Learning Tower. The floor is wide (15″ x 18″) and can hold up to 500 pounds.  The best part is the 4 sided railing though.  It keeps the kids safely in their space.

Would you believe that there is more that this amazing thing can do?  My kids were so excited about getting a spot at the counter that they could hardly stand it when I told them that they could also use The Learning Tower for puppet shows! You can actually buy a kit that includes an easily attachable roof, red curtains, and four different theme signs to create a puppet theater, doll house, drive-thru, or lemonade stand!  My kids also made a fort out of it and played there for over an hour.

And if that doesn’t make this tower multipurpose enough for you then you’ll love to know that you can also get an art easel to attach to it.
Sounds amazing doesn’t it?!  I really do think that The Learning Tower is an amazing and helpful invention for families.  Kitchens (and bathroom sinks too) have long been in need of a safe and sturdy stool for children to be able to wash their hands, help out and be a part of what the rest of the family is doing.  We will use ours for years to come.
The Learning Tower is made by little Partners.  If you would like to know more about the ages and stages for The Learning Tower here is great info and videos that go along with each stage.
If you would like to purchase The Learning Tower you can do so here. Shipping is free over $99.

Cleaners So Safe Your Kids Can Use Them Too (and they work great)!

The flowers are blooming. The trees are green again. There’s something about this time of year that makes me want to roll up my sleeves and get organizing and cleaning.

It’s hard to avoid all of the advertising claims lately about green cleaning products.  The problem is that many green cleaning products are not actually safer for you and your kids.  They may be trying to be a bit more “earth friendly” but they often still have all kinds of chemicals, carcinogens (can cause cancer), and ingredients that are harmful, especially to children.

I have been passionate about cleaning safely for a few years now, ever since I realized that it was just about as important as eating clean foods.  The cleaners we all use come into contact with our hands, little bottoms (in the bath tub), the air we breath and even our food when we wash dishes in the sink and food touches our counter tops.

I have finally found cleaners that I absolutely love and feel very safe about using around, and even with, my children.  They are from NewLeaf Clean.  All of the ingredients are all natural and you can actually pronounce them! Each ingredient is something you will recognize like vinegar, organic coconut oil, organic aloe vera, peppermint essential oil blend and others.

These cleaners work amazingly well and smell really good.  No chemical smells here.  They sell an All-Purpose Cleaner, Glass Cleaner, Granite Cleaner, Bathroom Cleaner, and Dish & Hand Soap.  My favorites are the All-Purpose that I use all over and the Granite Cleaner that cleans and shines granite amazingly well.

Because I really believe in training my children to be able to clean on their own one day, I allow them to use these cleaners while doing their chores.  I feel perfectly safe with them using them.  I do supervise the younger ones with cleaning but will let them spray these cleaners.  Aside from some homemade cleaners, NewLeaf Cleaners are the only ones I feel good about them using.

Disclosure: I did not receive anything for this post.  I just wrote it because I truly believe in the NewLeaf Products and love using them!
