Mommy Kudos Gift Guide Day 15

Day 15
Welcome to day 15 of the Mommy Kudos Gift Guide.  I hope you have been getting some good gift ideas.  If you missed the previous days you can find them here.

Moms

Sometimes you are just not sure what the perfect gift is even after lots of searching. For times like these I like to use Giftcertificates.com.  You can order gift certificates from hundreds of popular merchants like Gap, Ann Taylor, Barnes & Noble, TJMaxx, Crate & Barrel and more.  Then have them mailed out to yourself or the gift recipient.  They even have e-gift certificates to stores like Zappos, Overstock.com and more.

Babies

These books by Sara Gillingham are really cute with animals that are telling about each of their homes.  Each of the animals is a finger puppet that you see all throughout the book.  The stories are sweet and babies love interacting with the finger puppets.

Kids

I have long been a fan of Pottery Barn Kids.  They have such cute stuff for kids rooms!  I really like that they are now taking popular characters like Batman, Spider-man, Star Wars, and Curious George and incorporating them into their designs.  I like being able to give some more practical gifts for Christmas (like room decor) that my kids don’t necessarily see as practical because they have their favorite characters on them.   They also have great backpacks, lunch boxes, sleeping bags and more that would make great gifts. Check out their gift suggestions here.

Day 14

Moms

Moms need shoes right?  Well TOMS shoes give to more than just moms. For every pair of shoes purchased from TOMS a pair is also given to a child in need.  I don’t currently own a pair of TOMS shoes but I want to.  I ask just about everyone I see with them on how they like them and I have heard nothing but great things.  Most people say that are incredibly comfortable.  So they are on my wishlist this year.

Babies

Can you call shoes yummy?  These are so adorable!  I just can’t get over how sweet they are.  Check them out at Zuzii. Available in sizes o up to 6-9 months.  Here is what they say about their shoes:

“Our unique handmade footwear is designed with your baby’s comfort in mind. From the plush hand dyed stretch cotton uppers to the tri-layer soles, consisting of a layer of ortho cush-cork sandwiched between a leather insole and an anti-skid rubber sole. These carefully selected materials combine to create a remarkably lightweight and balanced shoe perfect for your little one, available in eleven beautiful colors.”

Kids

Do you have any nieces, nephews, grandkids or other kids in your life that you are away from and you want to remind them of your love for them even when you are not together?  Recordable Storybooks from DaySpring would be a great gift for the kids you love that are separated from you by miles.  Even if you aren’t separated by miles, but want a special gift, these books would make a wonderful gift!
The recordable books are just precious with cute pictures and sweet stories.  It’s very easy to record your voice reading the book.  All you need is a few minutes and a quiet room and you’re done.

The book “All Day Long with Jesus” teaches kids about how Jesus is near to us at all times not matter where we are or what we are doing.  Other titles in the collection are “Bedtime Prayers and Promises”, “I Love You Head to Toe”, and “God’s Christmas Promise.”

Mommy Kudos Gift Guide Day 13

I’m having so much fun with this gift guide!  I really love to discover fabulous new things and share them with you all.  Don’t miss the giveaways for Sparklehearts for Girls body and skin care, Your Mom Designs Etsy Store $20 Credit, and Mama Mio Omega Body Buff or Skin Tight.

Day 13

Moms

Most moms these days have some type of device that needs a protective cover like an iPhone, Blackberry, iPad, Kindle, laptop or another device.  I really like that GelaSkins offers removable covers for protecting and customizing your portable devices. They feature stunning, photo-quality graphics ranging from fine art prints to contemporary urban images.  If you would rather use your own image you can upload it to customize your own cover.

You could scan your child’s artwork and upload it to create a one-of-a-kind cover for your device or give it to mom or grandma as a special gift. Visit GelaSkins to see all of the designs and customizable options.

Babies
Babies love keys and moms (well, at least this mom) are often tempted to just hand the keys over to keep baby quiet and entertained while standing in line at the grocery store.  Right?  But keys have been lots of places and a baby’s mouth should not be one of them.  So when I came across these adorable, non-toxic, stainless steel Kleynamils I thought they were a fantastic idea.  You could just stash these in your purse for those “baby needs a distraction” moments and hand them these “keys.”  They sell for $24 and you can have them engraved too.

Kids

I saw this Schylling Sock Monkey Umbrella the other day and thought it was so cute!  My kids love umbrellas and because of that they make great gifts for them.  I like to find umbrellas that are characters or styles I know my kids will like.  Amazon has a good selection of umbrellas for kids by brands like Western Chief and Stephen Joseph.  They have everything from ladybugs and Hello Kitty to Batman and robots. Many of them have matching rain gear and rainboots too.

Some Tips on Getting Great Christmas Card Shots of Your Kids

Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week?  I love this time of year and really look forward to Thanksgiving.  The problem is that Christmas comes so quickly after Thanksgiving and I find myself needing to look past Thanksgiving a bit to what needs to get done for Christmas.

One of those to do items is Christmas Cards.  I love taking photos of my kids and turning them into our Christmas Cards.  I have to think about it early though and work on getting a great shot to use.

I will usually find a nice day, not too hot or too cold and head to a park.  The best time is earlier in the morning (before 11) or late afternoon.  You don’t want harsh sunlight in your photos so plan for a time when the sun isn’t directly overhead.

Trees, a lake, bushes, a cool looking door, a field or an unused railroad are all great places to take pictures.  Look for places while you are out and about and make note of the ones that would make good photo backgrounds.

Make it a fun time with your kids. Don’t let the stress of getting a perfect shot ruin your time.  Plan a fun time and insert the photo session in the midst of it.  I’m thinking about taking large lollypops or ice cream and cones, handing them out and then snapping away.  This should make for less tears and some great candid shots with the kids true personalities coming out.  Be sure to take lots of pictures!  It’s a great way to find a few that turn out well.

This year I am going to create our Christmas Cards using TinyPrints.  I love the round cards they have this year that double as Christmas ornaments.  It is a perfect new way to display Christmas Cards.

What are your plans for Christmas cards?  Have you found a great location for taking photos in your area?

Disclosure: I am receiving my Christmas cards for free this year from TinyPrints in exchange for this blog post.

Mama Mio Body and Skin Care (and a great Giveaway!)

Mommies, have I got a recommendation for you!  I really think you are going to love thisstuff!  I recently got my hands onbottles of Mama Mio Omega Body Buff and Skin Tight. I was excited to try them but I didn’t anticipate them becoming my favorite new skin care products.

First, I have to tell you about the Omega Body Buffscrub.  This stuff goes on right beforeyou get in the shower.  You rub itanywhere your skin could use some softening and it’s gentle enough to use onyour face too.  I make sure to scrub my hands and feet once I am done scrubbing the rest of me and my hands and feet have become so super soft!

I couldn’t get over thescent!  This stuff smells A-MAZING and I almost felt as if I had been transported to a spa (as opposed to my shower that really needed cleaning) as I smoothed it on.  That may sound silly but I promise this stuffsmells fantastic!  It’s a little sad thatyou have to wash the smell of this stuff off in the shower but you won’t mindonce you feel how silky smooth your skin is afterwards (a little bit of the scent remains).  It only took me using it once and I knew thiswas my new favorite, must have, body (and face) scrub!  I could not recommendit more!

The Skin Tight is pretty amazing as well.  It is for anywhere your skin could use sometightening.  Mama Mio is honest and doesn’t claim instantresults but they recommend you use it at least 30 days to see results.  Every time I use it I do feel tightening and I can tell it’s working.  Skin tight goes on easily and absorbs anddries quickly.  You can even use it onyour face to wake up tired looking skin (um, us mommies, need this often!).

Mama Mio makes many other products (all of which I can’twait to try after these wonderful products!). All of their products are free of the yucky stuff and are good for your skin.  I believe that if you try them you will be really happy you did.

Purchase: You can purchase Mama Mio products from their website.

WIN:  Mama Mio is so kind and I get to give 2 lucky readers one of these great Mama Mio Products.  I will randomly select a winner and the first will receive a bottle of the Omega Body Buff and the second winner will receive Skin Tight. I can’t wait for you to try them!!

Disclosure: I was sent a bottle of Mama Mio Omega Body Buff and Skin Tight to try for free.  My opinions shared here are my own.
